Description of the program

The program contains:
To intensify the adolescent’s identification with the character, Dominic takes on both genders and four ethnic/cultural characteristics:
  • Caucasian
  • African-American
  • Asian
  • Hispanic/Native

It can be administered in:

  • English
  • Spanish
  • French

A few opening pictures accompanied by a soundtrack teach the adolescent how to use the software and introduce Dominic.

Alone, with peers or with adults, Dominic is placed in daily life situations based on DSM-IV-TR diagnostic criteria for:

The question is written at the bottom of the picture. The voiceover describes the situation and asks the adolescent if s/he feels or does what the adolescent in the picture is feeling or doing. The adolescent clicks YES or NO. No judgment is involved.

The pictures are mixed to avoid response set or a halo effect.

The Dominic Adolescent is easy to administer, but only qualified professionals have the skills required to properly interpret the results.
